BIO
Dr. Hazelett trained as a developmental biologist with a strong background in experimental and computational biology. He uses existing, published data to understand the etiology of cancer from Genome-wide association studies (GWAS). He published the first post-GWAS functional study of primary genetic associations with prostate cancer and follow-up meta-analysis, and numerous similar studies as a member of the Ovarian Cancer Association Consortium (OCAC), the Breast Cancer Association Consortium (BCAC), and Genetic Associations and Mechanisms of Oncology (GAME-ON) consortium. Dr. Hazelett contributed to the design and selection of variants on the OncoArray, and applied these advances in collaboration with epidemiologists and clinician scientists, to study the function of germline variants in non-coding DNA.
