BIO
Dr. Predrag (Pedja) Jevtic is a faculty member in the Translational Research Institute, Jim and Eleanor Randall Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Research, at Cedars-Sinai. Dr. Jevtic earned his PhD at the University of Wyoming and completed his postdoctoral training at University of California Berkeley in Dr. Michael Rapé's lab. His research uncovered a conserved, ubiquitin-dependent mechanism that dynamically controls transcriptional repression, establishing developmental cell fate decisions and, when disrupted, driving cancer.
At Cedars-Sinai, his laboratory integrates cell biology, proteomics, functional genomics, and biochemistry to investigate how ubiquitin-dependent mechanisms that regulate gene expression coordinate development and cellular differentiation. More importantly the Jevtic lab examines how disruption of these pathways contributes to cancer and developmental diseases and investigates the use of their components as novel therapeutic targets.
