My research aims to identify and elucidate the functional roles of genes and transcription factors that regulate drug resistance, lineage plasticity, and metabolic reprogramming in cancer through epigenetic mechanisms. My current research focuses on the transcription factor ONECUT2 (OC2), a key driver of phenotypic plasticity and therapy resistance in prostate, breast, and small cell lung cancers. Our laboratory has identified small-molecule inhibitors that effectively target OC2, offering a promising therapeutic strategy. By elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying lineage plasticity and therapeutic resistance, my research has the potential to advance the development of novel targeted therapies for aggressive and metastatic cancers, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
